Summary

Tersus have provided specialist services to the Port Authority for many years, undertaking surveys in a wide variety of properties including lighthouses, hangers, old MOD properties and Port Harbour buildings, which also included their tenanted properties such as Poundland and Megabowl.

Access to each site is subject to stringent security checks, site passes and inductions..

A complete asbestos management solution

To enable the Client to fully comply with their legal obligations under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Tersus provide a full range of specialist services. 

After attending one of our asbestos training courses, the Client commissioned us to undertake a review of their asbestos management system. We presented a Gap Analysis and developed an action plan which included develop an Asbestos Management Plan in accordance with Regulation 4 of CAR 2012. Subsequent works included Management Surveys of their whole estate, training, the procurement and project management of HSE licensed asbestos removal.

Asbestos removal in a 100 year old Listed Building - £200k

A full turn key solution was provided at the Quay Stores building:

  • Provision of Principal Designer and Principal Contractor services.
  • Project management and procurement of large scale HSE licensed asbestos removal.
  • Provision of UKAS accredited analytical cover.
  • Scaffolding to support the structure alongside the asbestos removal. 

 

Asbestos decontamination at the live Mainstay Building - £120k

The asbestos surveying programme identified widespread asbestos contamination in loft spaces and risers of a live building. As Principal Designer, Tersus carefully planned the works as they were to be undertaken whilst the building was still occupied.

Tersus wrote the specification and safe system of work, tendered and procured the removal to approved HSE licensed asbestos removal contractors. Specialist access was required with scaffolding to support the structure alongside the asbestos removal. Reinstatement of ceilings and lighting were also included in the tendered package of works.

As Principal Contractor, Tersus managed the on-site works, provided full analytical cover and Certificates of Reoccupation as part of the Health and Safety File on completion of the works.
