Tersus support the NHS with all aspects of asbestos risk management to keep people safe and the duty holder compliant with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
Our services can be procured directly via several NHS frameworks including the NHS SBS and NOECPC. Tersus have supported this NHS Trust in Scotland since 2020, collaborating with the Estates team to ensure the duty holder is fully compliant with Regulation 4.
An initial audit and gap analysis identified several areas for improvement, resulting in new asbestos Management Surveys being undertaken across the portfolio in accordance with ISO 17020 and current HSE Guidance, HSG 264.
Following our ISO 45001 safety management systems and the Client's strict health and safety requirements, our team undertook asbestos surveys and analytical work in complex, occupied healthcare environments including operating theatres, hospital laboratories, clinics, plant rooms and service ducts.
Gaining access to these specialist areas and overcoming issues such as inspecting areas at height and those which could only be surveyed overnight has provided full visibility of asbestos risk across the portfolio. The Client can now provide their employees and their supply chain contractors with comprehensive asbestos registers and reports via a QR coding system and online asbestos database, TEAMS (The Electronic Asbestos Management System).
The TEAMS online customer portal provides data in a variety of formats enabling the Estates department to mitigate asbestos risk across the property portfolio and work with Tersus to prioritise remedial works. The asbestos removal programme has been developed with consideration of the wider risk management plan for the hospital buildings and other strategic projects.
Tersus are performing above expected levels.
Asbestos Contracts Manager, August 2023
Tersus developed and applied a bespoke room level asbestos labelling and management system using QR codes, which instantly provide live asbestos information to the Trust's Estates team and approved contractors. Tersus raised awareness of this across the Estate using a bespoke poster campaign, signage and training.
