Large amounts of ACM’s have been used for a range of construction purposes in the past up until 1999 when the use of asbestos was banned. The extensive use of Asbestos in the past means that there are still ACM’s in buildings today. Some materials, if not disturbed present no risk, however, if the materials are disturbed or are likely to be disturbed in the future, the fibres will be breathed in and can cause serious illness such as lung diseases and cancers.
Due to the risk that disturbed Asbestos fibres can cause to the public, this 3-day course will educate the delegates on the risks attached with ACM’s, how to ensure they are managed correctly and practical planning and undertaking of asbestos surveys in buildings of various types. The course will also touch on asbestos sampling methods for a variety if asbestos containing materials.
The BOHS accredited P402 course is primarily designed for anyone who wishes to take samples of ACM’s from any premises. Therefore, this course will cover everything from awareness of different ACM’s. how to avoid disturbance of the materials and how to effectively and safely take samples for analysis. The outline is as follows:
This course is designed for professionals who are in control of the surveying and sampling of ACM’s, also, managers who are responsible for the management of the ACMS’s. An example of a professional that would attend this course would be Asbestos Surveyor or Asbestos Management personnel.
To undertake this course, the delegate is not required to do any preparation. However, it is advised that delegates become aware of the contents of HSG 264 Asbestos: The Survey Guide. All successful delegates will receive a BOHS P402 Certificate.
