Tersus is the trading name of Tersus Consultancy Limited and was formed following the union of two well respected and long standing asbestos consultancies in 2005, which, for more than twenty six years, had specialised in asbestos, Fibrecount UK Limited and Argus Laboratories Limited.
First incorporated in September 1986, Tersus is able to offer clients the very best of our experience. Tersus maintains accreditation for asbestos surveying, air monitoring and clearance testing, bulk identification and bulk sampling. In addition to these services, we offer a completely managed service of all your asbestos obligations including project management and training. Tersus has many years’ experience in the following sectors: Public Sector including Local Authorities; Housing; Retail; Banking; Leisure; Industrial; Military Establishments and Schools and Higher Education Authorities.
Tersus also provide Legionella Testing and Landlord Checks including: Fire Safety FRA Assessment; Fire Compartmentation Survey; Gas Safety Audit; Electrical safety Audit; Health and Safety Audit; Radon Testing and General Overview of Stock Condition Status.
Tersus is accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) for testing and inspection to ISO/IEC 17020 and ISO/IEC 17025. Tersus also holds accreditation by UKAS to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 to sample and count fibres away from a permanent fixed laboratory in accordance with HSG 248 “The Analysts Guide”. Fibre counting is carried out in one of our mobile laboratories, which are themselves regularly checked and inspected to comply with UKAS accreditation. Tersus currently has around 30 mobile laboratories located across the UK. All come equipped with a complete range of equipment designed to undertake on-site air monitoring, 4 stage clearance testing and the production of Certificates of Re-occupation.
We currently employ around 180 people offering a truly nationwide service from our eight strategically placed UK offices (London; Aylesford; Birmingham; Sheffield; Nottingham; Brighton; Bristol and Taunton). Staff numbers include 30 site analysts, all equipped with mobile laboratories carrying out air monitoring and 4 stage clearances for both asbestos removal contractors and direct clients, around 68 Asbestos Surveyors and 30 Laboratory Technicians. Each office contains a UKAS accredited bulk asbestos identification laboratory capable of handling over 1,000 asbestos samples a day.
Since 2006, Tersus has been developing an ‘on-line’ Asbestos Management and Reporting system which produces the survey report and register and air testing documentation. We provide this system free of charge to our clients. Our online asbestos management system currently holds many thousands of our clients’ reports in a secure system accessible at any time of the day, 365 days per year.
